Trinity Online January 15th

Hello All!  Here is your Word, Meditation and Song for the Week! Right after Jesus is Baptised you would think he could bask in the glory of the moment a bit....but no!  The Spirit herds him off into the wilderness where he is tested.  Every on of us is drawn to a "bright shiny object", someting that pulls us away from being our best self. Jesus' temptations were real...1. Be a Bread King...not only feed yourself but the whole world...but his ministry is more. 2. Glory...have people worship you...WOW! Everyone thinks you're the greatest...magic and miracles... NOPE.  3. Power.  The leader of the world. Armies, Economics, the Ability to MAKE people do as you wish....NOPE.  How would we fare?

Egypt gives way to Assyria which is conquered by Babylonia which is conquered by Persia. in a few years Persia will be conquered by Alexander the Great.

Anyway...there is a sizable Jewish population in Persia and through a series of strange events a Jewish woman, Esther (morning star) ,finds herself in the King's favor and influencial at court. In the midst of Palace intrigues she discovers a plot to wipe out the Jewish people and risks her life to intervene.

The key line, "Perhaps God has chosen you for this moment for just this event..."

Enjoy!

Trinity online for Sept. 3

Here is your Online Worship from Trinity Pullman for this weekend!

We've looked at a number of points brought up in the short little novel of Ruth: addressing Xenephobia...fear and exclusion of those different....women's rights...loyalty...family...today we look at how God works in our lives. We often approach the Divine and Religion as "magic".  We pray for extraordinary events and then passively sit back and wait for God to deliver. The book of Ruth shows another approach...we pray...and then do everything in our power to help make it happen.  Naomi and Ruth were not passive players, nor content to be "victim".

Online for August 28th-character is what you do when no one is looking....

It was once said, "Character is what you do when no one is looking...." In our story of Ruth I think it is difficult to comprehend just how vulnerable Ruth is as an outsider among unknown people. Though it is not a given, her loyalty and steadfastness is matched by Boaz, who turns out to be a person of integrity...solid character...

We continue with the Story of Ruth

Online for August 21

And remember, for those in the Pullman area....worship is now at 10:30AM

We continue with the Book, the "little heretical novel" , of Ruth.

As I have commented before...things are often called "heretical" when it challenges the status quo, the "powers that be". Ruth reminds people of God's vision of a wide welcome, inclusion and respect for all!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
